Anyone ever use LED lights for growing seed starts?

I was going to try that this year with LED christmas lights. Until I realized that my christmas lights aren't LED. I read a lot of blog posts from people that seem to have had decent success with LEDs.

Since I didn't have any, I went to Goodwill and bought a bunch of regular desk lamps and set them up around my seedlings. Some of them have regular incandescent bulbs and some have those spiral florescent bulbs. (Hey, I had to use what I had!) So far they seem to be working pretty well.
