Does the weather suck for gardening where you are as much as it sucks here?

It has been in the 40s and 50s, cold and often rainy. When I was a kid, I had noted one weather pattern that I thought was immutable -- April Fools Day was the first of the permanent string of nice warm days, and was the day that the maple trees blossomed.

They're predicting more shit weather for the upcoming week. It snowed briefly last week! I've got may flats started indoors, so I guess it doesn't matter, but I would have like to have started turning over/warming up the soil this weekend.

1. I'm in SW New Hampshire and it's 30 degrees today. I've started

my tomatoes indoors and I bought my seed potatoes to bury as soon as the ground will let me. This is always the most frustrating time of the year.

2. It sucks big time.

Cold, cloudy, rainy. Stormed all night and is going to rain later tonight and tomorrow again. I'm glad for the rain because of the grass fires that have sparked up all over but it would be nice if it could stop soon.

3. I'm in Central IN

The last date that we can have a freeze is May 1st. That's a general rule, though. There have been years when it was still cool in June! I'm hoping that this year is not one of those years!

There was frost on the ground when I went outside this Easter morning.

4. No, 'fraid not.

We had a cool and rainy week but in this climate (SF Bay area) that's good news because April rain tends to be light and infrequent. After April it's dry until November most years. The rain has helped along the young plums and peaches as well as the newly planted tomatoes and it means we have a couple more weeks without needing to irrigate the perennial beds.

My in-laws in North Jersey on the other hand are griping.

Another Jerseyan here griping. It rained Saturday and today, even though it was sunny, was cold. I did go out and plant a couple beds of flowers and one of arugula. I'd have done much more if it had been even a little warmer.

Am in new place, townhouse with very little gardening room. Had planned for last year but was called away; THIS year, am feeling despondent.

8. We planted lettuce, spinach, beets, radishes and onions under row covers April 10

We salvage the wire frames from election signs to use as hoops. This photo is similar to what we do. There were three "volunteer" lettuce plants growing in last years lettuce patch, so we incorporated them.

This weekend consisted of spading fertilizer and manure into 400 square feet of raised beds. My forearms are a bit sore this morning. :)

10. Our worst problem here in Northern CA right now is the frakkin' WIND!

We've got 30 mph winds with 40 mph gusts AGAIN today. And pollen everywhere. Not good at all for being outside, let alone trying to plant anything.
