some pics of my first garden in a few years.

I took over an 8'x8' plot in the back yard in March, doing the square foot thing. This is what it looked like yesterday.

Mesclun's doing well.

A few of the sugar snap peas sustained a little hail damage this week, but nothing we can't overcome. :)

1. Good job!
I saw the dump truck first & thought "wow he's really serious about this." then I saw the bags of dirt.

Good job! Hope your garden turns out great!! :)

10. One year
I heard that human urine around your garden would keep some animals out. This was the greatest thing in the world to my two little boys who thought peeing outside was one of the grandest things in life. All summer long they would run outside. Just thinking of your assistant, there are always garden chores that are fun. We lived in a more rural setting, not a neighborhood so if you are in a neighborhood I would recommend you not join him :).

Hi! It does seem like yesterday you brought him home. Boy it does fly by.

11. LOL!
Hey, Muse! Yeah, I think my neighbors would freak out more than a little if I started peeing in the back yard, so I won't be joining Chris in that activity. :D

This is him now. Scares the hell out of me how fast it's going, if you want to know the honest truth.

12. Ahhhhhhh
he is adorable! Everyone tells you how fast it goes but you never really appreciate that until it happens to you. Mine are independent and living in another city now and they were just born the day before yesterday ;).

Enjoy every precious moment (like I need to tell you that!). He is a lucky boy.

13. You know something else I just thought of?
I'm really jealous of the cinder block box. I wanted to do that because I think you can fill the holes and plant extra stuff in there. They give you an expanded planting area. My hubs didn't want to do that because they are too heavy. He has a bad back and it would have been difficult for him. I think if we put in anymore, I'm gonna do it.

14. well, Ms Uly isn't a big fan of them
because they're sort of butt-ugly. I may see about painting them, or putting something like phlox in the holes to cover the concrete. But yeah, point well taken. I'm thinking about nasturtiums and garlic.

Oh well, there's always next year. I like your idea of planting something in the holes too.
