Anyway, to your point, what kind of vine is on the left of your picture. I was wondering if you had some cross-pollination. Otherwise, it looks like either a green about to turn yellow summer squash OR possibly a gourd.

I don't remember what loofahs looks like growing but for some reason it reminded me of them - but that was over 20 years ago!

At least that is what it looks like.
We have some in our garden this year.

5. I will be thrilled if it's butternut squash. I routinely throw out

canteloupe, squash and watermelon seeds for the birds, but it's usually in another area. Maybe this one passed thru the bird before it started its life in my yard. Leaves look more like cucumber, though. My zukes and squash don't usually spread out like this has. It has the little climber tendrils (or whatever they're called) like cukes. Could be a weird hybrid. We'll see.

6. Our Butternut is running on the ground like a Cantaloupe too.

Next year, we will give it a trellis.
This is the first year we have grown Butternut.
We usually don't have any luck with Squash.
The Squash Bugs have always gotten it before us.
This year looks much better.
We actually harvested a small Zucchini yesterday...a first for us.

If you look close at the photo I posted on the left, you can see a "climber tendril".

7. Odd

I have been awaiting flowers on my Butternut Squash plants. They are taking over one side of the garden as expected. I have a ton of little squashes but have never had a flower. I have never grown them before, is this usual?

OP, yes that must be what that is. I have them all over my Butternut plants. Mmmmmmm.

It's called a Green Striped Cushaw. Some call it a pumpkin, some call it a squash.
