I'm going to collect seeds this year to plant next year
Looking for some advice on the best time to collect seeds, how to store them?
My arugula has flowered and in pods. The pods are green right now.

1. I'm going to try and do some seed saving as well this year.
Here's a website I found pretty informative:

http://www.seedsave.org/issi/issi_904.html

These sites have info specifically on saving arugula seeds (scroll toward the bottom):

3. This will be my first year trying, and really my first year gardening anything beyond tomatoes and
basil, so I've been Googling like mad for months. My green thumb may come with a side of carpal tunnel, but so far, so good! :)

5. Fantastic! Thank you for the links
Last year I saved marigold, cosmos, and cilantro seeds-

All of which were planted and are healthy and thriving.

Going for the whole enchilada this year- Leaning towards storing in glass jars.

6. You're welcome!
It's been so interesting watching things I'm only used to seeing in "leaf" form produce flowers, especially the arugula & cilantro.

I didn't plan my sowings all that well though, so I'm about to go without both for a few weeks until my next batch of seedlings get up to speed. Now I know why the Brits call arugula "rocket"-- it bolts like lightening!

7. Last year I saved seeds from the ground cherries I grew because
I was afraid I'd never find them again. I had a heck of a time starting them indoors and the plants were kind of sorry looking. Wouldn't you know it? The darn things self seeded in the garden and they're coming up like weeds out there.
