Just replanted a "Glacier" variety of tomato today..
Trying to extend the season with a cold tolerant variety that matures in a shorter time.
Here in S Cal the growing season often extends late into the fall (if not longer).
Anyone familiar with this variety? Thanks....z

1. Never tried the "Glacier".
We started seeds in mid-July for a Late Planting of tomatoes.
Creoles, BrandyWine, and BloodyBush (who could resist?).

We should be transplanting this week.
If we have a late frost, we should get some fresh tomatoes.
If we get an early frost....Oh Well, we only risked a few seeds.

I think we may be a little late.
Next year, we will start our "late" seeds on July 1st.

Good Luck, and let us know how the Glaciers work.

2. Thanks, bvar22, for sharing your info re late planting of tomatoes.
Am going to search for some Brandywine and Bloody Bush (love that name)
plants at our local nursery. Since our growing season is much longer and we seldom
have frost, it is going to be interesting to see how long we can have homegrown tomatoes.
Good luck on your late crop.....z

3. Minor correction:
That 3rd variety is "Bloody Butcher", not Bloody Bush (now what was I thinking?)

Bloody Butcher is an heirloom that produces fruit in 55 days.
We have never grown them, and I have never eaten one, so we don't have any 1st hand info.
we are trying them this year solely on the name, the "heirloom" tag, and the 55 day to fruit time.
