Does ANYTHING repel ground hogs??
Gah! I am at the end of my rope with the fat little thieves.

I've tried garlic spray, human urine (at their den, not in the garden), hot pepper (powdered AND fresh) and they just keep on comin'. I've Googled like a mad woman (see above list ) but I thought I'd throw it out to you wise DUers. Hoping there's a miracle out there that I've somehow missed!

(Oh, and I tried the haveaheart trap route and they just laughed.)

1. I used the Haveaheart trap with success.
I used dry roasted sunflower kernels as bait. Just make a trail of seeds
all the way through the trap. Take him at least 10 miles away.
I took mine only 3 miles the first time and he was back in 4 days.
I took him 15 miles the second time and he hasn't returned.
Good luck.

2. here ya' go
This stuff works great--it's natural (has lots of mint leaves, etc.), stays on through the rain, and from personal testimony, it works. I have a big spray bottle of it (the second one down--ready to use solution). It's lasted me for two years now and there's plenty left.

This is a terrific company, too--located right here in New Jersey (Colonia).

3. LOL. I was CERTAIN I was going to open this and see a picture of
a gun! (That's been the most common advice offered to me here in rural VA.)

Can't wait to try this! Off to order some now: http://www.deerout.com/groundhog/faq.htm

THANKS! :hi:

7. Package arrived this morning (FAST shipping!) but we had rain all day.
Will be spraying like a mad woman tomorrow and will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again for the recommendation!

6. live trap w/ apples gets 'em every time
.22 rifle

.18 pellet rifle

wrigley's spearmint gum ... a whole pack wound around some apple slices
(they can't pass it)

a large dog too

***********

They are not endangered, you can not catch and rehabilitate them, and if you move 'em then you are making them
somebody else's problem. I live in the city and had them move in ..... I had to whack 7 of them. They are very
destructive and can ruin a garden ASAP.
