Those are Grape Vines growing on the arbor, but we don't know precisely what kind of grapes they are.
We planted 6 different varsities in this area 2 years ago to determine which would grow well here. These two survivors grow well here, but have lost the planting diagram so we don't know which ones these are.:shrug:

We should get some grapes this Summer, so that will help in the ID.

Sassafras is a good idea!
I know it grows here, but have never grown it.

7. Oh.....that.
It is a combination of Hickory and Swamp Willow.
I used Hickory for longevity, but was unable to bend it into anything that resembled an "arch", so I used Swamp Willow to form the arch, and reinforced it with short sections of Hickory.
Everything is held together with wire.

8. Thanks, b, for posting the pics.
Great reminder of the passing seasons. Getting the pots ready now for
some early spring planting here in SoCal. Speaking of sassafras. It grew wild on my grandparents' farm in
central MO. Used to help dig roots for "spring tea"......z
