I see a strawbale gardening forum on Dave's Garden website. It costs
$20 to be a member and see the "good stuff". I would like to join up, but I don't want to be inundated with popups and crap. Do you know how bad Dave's is in that regard? I have dialup, and Linux.

3. Dave is a r-w fundie
And so are a lot of the people at his forum. I know because he threw me off his forum for calling dumbya a chicken right after 9/11.

4. It was ok about 5 years ago
I used to subscribe, but found I wasn't using it all that much. There's some good information in the free areas, such as reviews of suppliers and plant descriptions, but I didn't find the forums particularly worth the price.

5. Go to rareseeds.com
That's the lead site for Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. They have a great (and active) message board for gardeners. Just avoid the politics forum - there are some serious nutbags on there.
