Seed Storage
It's the 2nd year of the NeedleGarden and instead of starting from starter plants we're starting from seeds this year and so far, with fairly good success. Last year I grew a total of 13 plants...this year I'm doing about 60 between herbs and veggies. I started in late January with those 25 pot Jiffy Greenhouses and they worked very well. Three more weeks and everything will be heading outside to go into their own personal pots or into the planter bed.

However, I still have a ton of seeds left over. I'd hate to think they're all going to waste. I've read that they can be frozen with limited succeess. Any other ideas on keeping them? They're all just standard seeds in those paper seed packets.

1. Seed viability with age is very species dependent....
Tomato seeds with no special conditions can easily last 10-14 years or so, peppers far less, onions just a few - we start thousands of seeds (sell tomato, pepper and eggplant seedlings in the spring) - this year I had great germination with seed I saved 10 years ago. The biggie - moisture! I store my seeds in snap top plastic vials. (you wouldn't believe how many I have...)
