30 tomatoe plants, 24 peas, and 36 onions on the go
.
.
.

Got mini greenhouses outside - bring in the tomatoes and peas overnight

onions can tough the cold

I'm Northern Ontario - so we still get freezing overnight(tomatoes don't like that)

but get up to over 80 during the day -

so I take my tomatoes outside for a sunbathe --

Everything is in planters - I may have to move - will donate over 75% of my plants to the food bank garden after the frost danger is gone - June probably

but I'm GROWING stuff -

and I only found out 3 years ago that I'm good at it!

And I love being outside and working with the soil and plants

EVERYONE ENJOY THEIR GARDENINGS THIS YEAR!

I'm gonna . . .

2. Nope - gonna make them seedlings available for the garden at the food bank
.
.
.

Summer of 2007 I harvested over 1000 tomatoes - put 200 in my freezer, gave some to friends, and hundreds after harvesting to the food bank.

The seedlings were given to me, I like growing, and I know I'll never be able to eat them all

so I'll give them away like I did before to the needy.

One thing you don't get at the food-Bank is fresh veggies.

My greenhouse in 2007 provided the needy with cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkins and more.

I wish I could do more, but I no longer have my greenhouse, and an impending move makes it foolish to plant stuff in the ground here -

and I know my yields will be limited in planters

SO

seeing as I like to grow stuff, and am good at it, I'll just start them and give them to the people at the food bank.

You can grow one hell of a lot of food for $20 worth of seeds -

It's the TIME that is the investment

I got time

4. Wonderful that you are helping out the Food Bank. Nice to be able to help while doing something you
I'm a late-blooming gardener too. Had done tomato & basil plants in the past, but really got into it last year with all kinds of veggies/herbs/flowers. Now I feel like a green-thumbed addict, LOL.

Cash output was less than $100
