Can you help me identify this plant?
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 09:26 PM by RayOfHope
We bought our house in January. All sorts of plants are coming up and I can identify most, but I am stumped with this one. Can anyone help?

1. Hosta
Hosta fortuneii, a very common and popular perennial. From the looks of the shoots, one of the variegated kinds.

2. I'm sort of embarrassed to not know this! I know what hostas look like
but I've never had any in any yard I've been in, so I've never seem them when they start to poke out of the ground. The 'hair' was throwing me off

4. I was going to guess Setcreasea...

... but only b/c I was at a nursery today shortly after reading your post and they happened to be selling it. I'd never heard of it before. It has the same kind of gorgeous purple leaves. Of course, with a small plant in a pot, it's hard to tell if it was coming up in the same way as your bigger plants, but they did look similar. I even ending up buying one!

Sounds like it's a hosta, but I discovered a new plant b/c of your post, so thanks! :hi:
