BTW I am growing them in 10 gallon black plastic nursery pots that I have
buried about 3/4s into the ground ..... medium = container mix/compost / native soil / silica sand / cow manure
Fertilizer = Espoma organic lawn food (plants don't know the difference) and a pinch of ammonium sulphate per pot (quick release N)

1. I bought a "husk" tomato from "Tomato Joe" at the Holden plant show last weekend

It was an impulse purchase. He said to use them in a salsa. They have a husk like a tomatillo but are red and not as firm.

2. Black Prince was my overall favorite last year...

this year I'm planting 4 of them

3. Sungold and Black Cherry are always on my list

Cherokee Purple, Black Krim and Jetstar are also three more I always plant. Growing Pruden Purple and Traveler 76 for the first time this year since I've heard they both do well in Oklahoma. Instead of Brandywine(which I've never had much sucess with), I'm trying Brandy Boy.

You've got a good list and I'm sure you're like the rest of us and can't wait for that first ripe tomato.

4. What, no Big Boys? I too have a small area with pots.

I have 6 plants. 3 are Big Boys. Make the best salads and BLT's. I like them because they seem to have a balance of flesh and juice. Some of the tomatoes I planted other years were a little too meaty and seemed dry.

Last years growing season was so bad here that I don't even count it. If I had to guess, I'd say I picked 8 tomatoes. Even the Basil was scrawny.

Hoping for a good crop this year...if the sun ever shines and the temp starts to get out of the 40's and 50's.

6. Early Girl always does good for me.

I get LOTS of tomatoes from them.

Abundant in South Louisiana, but can't be bought in Arkansas.
We had to have seeds sent from New Orleans.

They're all new for us. Bought the plants from a coop grower here in OK. They were about 5-6 in. high.
