Late 2nd Planting of Zucchini avoided the Vine Borers.

Our first Spring Planting of Squash was devastated by Squash Vine Borers.
Most No-Pesticides growers of Zucchini know the story:
The plants are lush and robust, but the next day, they are wilted and laying on the ground.
That fast.

On the advice from a local Organic Farmer, we planted again in August.
Apparently, this late planting of Squash will avoid the larval stage of the Vine Borer which does all the damage.


This is how our Zucchini looks today, October 13th.
We are harvesting several tasty, ripe Zucchinis daily.

1. I ordered SpaceSaver, or SpaceMaster cucumber seeds from Park

Saved most of the seeds to share and some for Spring, but planted 3 seeds in a big, flower pot outside. Package says one seed can be planted in a 7" flower pot. We are overrun with tiny cukes. We only like one once in a while, and to make a few summer pickles. planted late, but doing very well.
