What went wrong? Potato bin yields only a small colandar of
potatos...

I'm disappointed that we got very few potatoes out of our wooden bin (like the video). We planted 3 each: reds, Yukon, and russet in a 4 x 4 bin and covered the plants w/dirt 3 times with Miracle Grow enriched dirt - only the Yukons made some scraggly edible potatos. Too hot and dry? Too deeply buried? Dirt too rich??? Any thoughts???

We're gonna try the garbage can method next year, I think. Would it be alright to reuse the dirt?

1. probably
the first problem was the miracle grow, since it's not really alive.

The potatoes have to be kept evenly moist throughout the growing season and soil should have been added every few days.

But first year efforts are often good learning experiences. I'm going to try for potato bins next year myself. I have a feeling that hardest part is to find dirt when you need it to hill the potatoes, so my plan is to mix enough for the potato bin and keep it right there in a bag.

Good luck with your next try.
