Does anybody know which plant just bloomed about a month ago, which only

blooms every one hundred or 150 year? I think it was a desert plant and it grows in the U.S.

1. Century Plant Agave.

Agave americana. Native to SW US and Mexico. Related to the Agave that tequila is made from. It can live from 20 to 100 or more years, only blooms once, and then dies.

I could swear there was also a cactus variety that just bloomed. Saw a picture on DU, but I don't remember the name so I can't retrieve it.

I have one that a friend of mine gave me. They are the weirdest looking plants ever, but the blooms are spectacular, as is the aroma. I had it for about 10yrs before it bloomed, now it won't stop. Hope it survives the move to Va next month.
