This year, we're growing:
"Big Boy" tomatoes
Beefsteak tomatoes
Sweet Baby Girl cherry tomatoes
Hungarian Wax (paprika) peppers
Jalapeño peppers
African fish peppers
Green and Red bell peppers
Cucumbers
Zucchini squash
Garlic (these are sprouts that a friend gave us)
Oregano
Rosemary
Dill
Parsley
Sweet Basil
Sage
Cilantro
aaaaaaand.....CATNIP! For the furbabies. :)
We planted everything from seed (except for the garlic) and used our garden soil from last year (amended with manure, peat humus, and an organic fertilizer blend). We added one big bag of new soil as well and mixed everything together, then watered it with reconstituted powdered milk with a little epsom salt dissolved in it (for a bit of a calcium and magnesium boost).
We're keeping the pots inside the house for now, but by the time they're ready to transplant, it should be past our usual last-frost date. I'm so excited! The very first "garden pic" of the year:
The 5-gallon tubs are all tomatoes. The small red pots are garlic (the sprouted one), cucumbers, squash, and the assorted peppers. The long grey containers are the herbs, planted two herbs per box.
Now I'm just waiting for April 1st so I can wake up my roses and plant my flowers! :)
