Gardening at a church community garden

and doing very well. This year I got a plot at a church community garden and I have to say I'm doing very well. Right now I got lots of lettuce coming in yellow wax beans and soon I'll have cucumbers and tomatoes. I couldn't believe how much food a small plot could produce. So far I've given away two bags of lettuce and beans.

Next year I'm going to try growing stuff in my own yard. :)

2. Community gardening is great. Our little village

is starting on our second year in our community garden. I'll post a pic and some info in a new post.

3. Thinking about trying to find a place to do the same here

Not sure if a church would work because I'm a non-believer. However, there is a baptist church not far from our house that has a LOT of land. My fiance and I helped plant some trees on their property last season as part of a city wide greening effort.

If anyone has ideas about how to approach church leadership about stuff like this, I'd love to hear about it.

Tell them that you wondered if they had any plans on running a community garden next year, since they have such a large plot of land. Let them know that you'd be interested, even if there was a small fee. (Sometimes offering a nominal fee will show that you are interested.) Chances are someone has already mentioned it or, if brought up, a group will be interested. Leave your name and number.
