mmmmmm. cherries!
so, i finally remembered to spray a dormant oil on my cherry tree. it is a pie cherry, and usually gives buggy and overly sour cherries. last year the robins wouldn't even eat them. but this year, omg. tasty, not buggy, and, since they are all ripening at the same time (not rotting) they have also been beautiful.
i was worried for a while there, as it dropped a lot of fruit this year, which it doesn't normally do. not sure why that was, and if i liked/hated the cool wet weather.
now all i have to do is get a taller ladder.

2. Stop, you're making me jealous
I'll be happy if I get a couple of ground cherries, at this rate.

I so wish I had a bigger lot for some fruit trees.

4. I picked two gallons, and there are still some on the tree
Sour cherries, that is, which worries me: usually I have to fight with the jays to get any, and they'll cheerfully take the ones I can't reach. Very few birds around this year - I don't know if the wet weather disturbed their nests, or the hawks are getting them, or the crows have driven them off.

5. Ohh
I just planted two sour cherry trees this spring, and so far they are doing well, knock on wood. What is the purpose for the oil?
