Help me with my tomatoes!

I live up north and have never thought I had to deal with this problem: it's supposed to be 85-90 this week just as my tomatoes are blossoming. Should I worry about setting? Should I bring them inside, where it's marginally cooler? Help!

1. Those are pretty much our temps all summer long here in VA (if not hotter!) and I

haven't had problems in the past w/tomotoes setting and mine get sun from sun up until 6pm.

If it's going to be really scalding for days on end, you might try shading them a little in the hottest part of the day, but I think as long as you are still having cool'ish nights, you'll be fine.

2. Heh -- a coolish night here would be 50, but it's never supposed to get below 70 this week at night.

This is the first year I've ever grown tomatoes from seed, so I'm feeling a little protective. Thanks for the response. :hi:

4. Tomatoes usually like heat and high humidity.

It's supposed to be brutally hot and humid here in the Pocono Mtns of NE PA this week. Tomatoes seem to thrive when night time temps are up and they get some rain. I think your tomatoes will be just fine.

the only thing is that >90 degrees and the pollination of the fruit goes down some.

water them in the morning or at night and if you must water during the day do not get water on the
leaves.

Although mid to late july might be kind of late to start fruit production for tomatoes because sometimes it can
be over a month and a half from pollination to producing mature and ripe fruit.
