What I Did with Tomatoes! (pics)
Edited on Wed Jul-27-11 03:37 PM by NJCher
Here's what I've done with tomatoes today:

Stuffed Red Peppers Cherry tomatoes, feta cheese,
basil, thyme. Might toast some pine nuts for the top;
think it would be good?

Cherry Tomato Tarts These are the best! Instead of
making a crust, though, I just used crescent rolls in the tube.
Stretched 'em out a little and then made little baskets into which I put the mixture.

Tomato juice I made two jars. When I drink a cup, I like to mix in
worcestershire and fresh lemon plus a little chopped marjoram and
chopped fresh par-cel leaves. Oh and black pepper, too.

1. Tasty!
My tomatoes still aren't priducing much, so it's the occasional tomato sandwich and fresh cherries in salads for now. Lots of flowers on the plants now, hoping for more fruits soon.

Thanks for the links!

2. Having a great year here....got 150 lbs on my table and counter -
12 quarts of tomatoes, 7 pints of roasted tomato sauce canned. 180 plants to start, only a few kicked the bucket- somehow pumping out the fruit in this incredible heat!

And our favorite application...

3. What beautiful tomatoes!
Mine are still recovering from near-death while I was away, but still making fruit too, despite hella hot days. Nights have been in the low 60's so maybe that's the balance.
