Ok, I was in a hurry to get the garden done. This year I am working 1300 sq. ft. and by the time I got to the potato patch, I was just tuckered out. I realized that I didn't have any potato tubers to plant and the local nursery didn't have any, so rather than try to mail order or go on a mad potato hunt, I grabbed two bags of various organic potatoes in the grocery to plant. I figure if they're organic, they should grow, right? There haven't been any treatment to keep them from spoiling or sprouting or anything, right?
When I got them home, I wondered if I should let some eyes start growing first and then cut them up. My gardening book says to cut them up and let the raw surfaces dry a few days....but... no time for that. I'm finito with this garden as of today, so, I didn't cut them into pieces, I put in whole potatoes without any eyes started. Will it work? I planted some blue potatoes this time. I hope they grow!
