Grapes?
Are muscadines and scuppernongs considered to be grapes? My husband always called them grapes and he ate tons of them every fall when we lived in North Carolina.

A month or so ago, a cousin gave me some muscadine juice and some canning jars and I told him I would make some jelly. I put it in the freezer and yesterday I got around to making the jelly, which turned out clear, light and tasty. When I took my cousin's to him today, I said, "here is your grape jelly," and he replied, "they're muscadines." I didn't have time to stand and talk as I had groceries that needed to be put away. Now I'm wondering if I should have made jam. I've made all other kinds of jams and jellies, but never grape. I followed the directions for grape jelly on the sure-jel box.

1. Yes they're grapes. Sounds like jam would have been better
because it would have had color. Can't imagine a clear jelly. But as long as it tasted good!

2. It was red, but transparent. Not clear as in the absence of color.
What I meant was that it didn't have any pulp in it, and the color wasn't cloudy.
