I've been thinking about what I can do to build up to gardening gradually. Ran across this link and thought I'd post it in case others are thinking the same way.
http://www.rxyoga.com/video_previews.html An orthopedic physician, Dr. Gail Dubinsky of Sebastopol, Calif., has
developed a program of simple yoga stretches and strengthening exercises to
help prevent pain and injuries caused by gardening's repetitive and awkward
movements. The exercises can be performed before, during and after
gardening.
Dr. Dubinsky, who is also a yoga teacher and avid organic gardener,
said: "As gardening became a major part of my life, I realized there was a
need for a yoga program to keep gardeners healthy by helping them avoid
acute or cumulative injuries. Gardening is heaven for the soul, but can be
hell on the body." It's nice that Dr. Dubinsky put this all in one place for people but knowing quite a bit about stretching, I doubt I'll need to purchase the tape. Her selection of stretches is helpful, though, and I'll pattern my own routine after it.
