I don't think they're gonna be so cute in a couple of weeks! I've enjoyed watching the adorable bunny family from the window this past winter. I just got in from clearing dead leaves - and tons of rabbit poop - from some of the beds and realized that they are gonna just love the tender new shoots coming up!

Does anyone know of a sure-fire, all-natural rabbit deterrent? I'm open to all suggestions that don't include Elmer Fudd.

2. A dog. A dog that likes bunny appetizers.

Or a kid with a .22, promise her/him five bucks for every baby bunny corpse and ten for the mom or dad.

Those are about the only things I know that work.

3. Bird netting

We have deer and rabbit problems.

I installed tall green metal fence stakes with little hooks at all 4 corners of my vegetable garden, and 2 more for a doorway. Then I got wide bird netting and draped it tightly from stake to stake.

I also wove some narrow plastic rope across the top of the bird netting to keep it from drooping. I tucked the bottom of the netting under paving stones, though you could use landscape timbers or something else.

I left a flap of netting, circled with the thin rope, for a gate.

This worked for me for years, but last summer the netting was getting fragile and tore in a couple of places. The rabbits got in and ate everything but the tomatoes and peppers.

I just finished putting up new bird netting around the beds and hope it will last for a few more years.

4. Castor oil and garlic repellants

I have not used them yet. I bought a castor oil solution because the chipmunks are doing too much digging. 7. I've heard about the castor oil

Are you sure it's not moles doing so much digging? I do know that the chipmunks here have made quite a few tunnels under our shed. I'm sure it's going to just collapse at some point! But, they're so darned cute!!! I'll probably just let nature take it's course. I enjoy all the critters just as much as my flowers.

It's been years since we had bunny tea for our garden. Our daughter had a 4-H rabbit. We had lots of free fertilizer.

There's still tons of bunny poop in the gardens. I left it all in there hoping it would act as a fertilizer. And, no, I'm not prepared to actually make bunny tea! I have to draw the line somewhere!

oddly enough you can buy the stuff to sprinkle around your beds

10. I have used Red Fox urine before and it worked well

got in at True Value hardware store, several years ago,
I also put it on some cotton balls and put these in
an old shoe box (some it can be removed later)
and placed these in my attic to repel squirrels, don't use
but a drop or two on 3 or 4 cotton balls
because you don't want to smell it.
I never saw another squirrel for months.
Just a suggestion.
