and I just put my tomato plants out yesterday. On the other hand, our brussel sprout plants are loving the cool weather.

1. My tulips and daffodils look so sad today

29 degrees and a dusting of snow on the ground in Ohio. The beautiful blossoms of yesterday will be gone.

2. I'm a little nervous, now that I just about have my whole garden

done/in, ready for spring. I'm praying it doesn't get too cold and kill all my bulbs that are sprouting.

3. My little tomato sprouts

are giving me the evil eye every time I go out back. I knew this would happen but I get so impatient to get digging. I'll just have to reseed if it comes to that.

7. Do you have any empty buckets?

We set out Early Girl plants in March and cover them at night, first with one gallon nursery pots and gradually working up to 5 gallon plastic pails. Seems to do the trick when the nights are chilly (light frost only -- haven't tested this with heavy frost because we don't have many of those.)

I have an ample supply of buckets. It must be genetic because my Dad always had more buckets then any one family could use. I also got some 8-ball squash seeds and the plants are now doing quite well. I will heed you advice on harvesting.

5. Put out some jugs of water

The water will give up heat* as the water freezes and keep the area a bit warmer. I had jugs of water out in my broccoli patch until January. Picked a cup of broccoli on January 2. It was a freaky warm December here.

6. We have a frost advisory for Friday

After many years of starting over, I vowed never to set out plants before Easter even when it comes in April. I can't park my car in the garage 'cause of all the plants. This won't be a problem next year cause I'm building a greenhouse this year.

8. I'd like to have a greenhouse

My wife is quite adamant about being able to get her car in the garage and that's fine with me. I've been quite adept at space management and allocation. I can get a lot of stuff crammed in there including plants.
