We have a cabin in West Virginia. It's in the woods, so it's very shady. We're also pretty high (about 4,000 ft) so the days are cool and the growing season is short. I've never tried to grow anything up here. But the previous owner left a flower box attached to a deck railing so a few years ago I figured I'd plant some flower seeds and see what happens. Of course nothing came up that summer...or the next, but last fall (late September) this beautiful plant appeared. I have no idea what it is. I threw away the seed packet. I've searched all over the Internet for identification but haven't found anything like it. It's one of the prettiest plants I've seen, with attractive foliage and blooms that are an icy lemon color. I'd like to try growing it again. Anyone know what it is?
