Wow, what a perfect spring for gardening here in NE Oklahoma

Even with the late start I got on my garden this year, my corn is over 5 feet tall, my okra has buds on them, my tomatoes are all beginning to fruit, the ladybugs are everywhere. With the drip irrigation I installed this year I have had to only walk through the garden twice daily to make sure no major bug infestation is occurring but with the ladybugs in such vast numbers there has been none of that.

I do dread the day when this tropical weather ends and we are back to the searing hot 100 plus degree weather. And I know it is coming.

1. We picked and ate our first tomato in N. Ohio yesterday

We had to cut it in half because it was the only ripe tomato. It was a Stupice and it was delicious. This tomato started growing on about May 1, a few days after I put the plant in the ground. Not very seedy, either.

2. Our Creoles have been delicious

Gotta pick again this afternoon. About Mid July I'll seed some Arkansas Travelers for good late summer and fall maters.
