Any advice on trees suffering from road salt?
We have two maple trees that are under stress we think from exposure to road salt. One is along the road, the other right where we park the cars. Trees just 10' away from these two are doing fine. The symptoms are smaller leaves than normal and fewer leaves than normal.

1. Drench the ground around them half a dozen times...
...heavily, if you're where you can be profligate with water use. S-L-O-W drench first, leave the hose on "trickle" for a few hours, even overnight. The idea is to let the water sink in and bring the salt to the surface. Let it dry for a few days, then hose around the top with high pressure toward wherever it will runoff quickest.

Next winter before snow season, mulch heavily around those trees and peel the mulch off as soon as you get melt, layer by layer.

But you're probably better off giving up and letting them go, then replacing them with salt-tolerant street trees. Your city or county arborist can probably recommend something.

helpfully,
Bright
