What is my plant?
I bought a small plant earlier this month and potted it with a small cactus and another ivy looking-plant. The ivy plant and the cactus are fine but I've managed to just about kill the decorative plant. I think I'm over watering. Anyway, the plant has dark green leaves with pink spots. Can anyone tell me what it is so I can look up care info? Coleus? Caladium?

1. Could be many things,
but since you suggested coleus, maybe a polka dot plant?

4. How come?
Is it the water? Is it because cactii don't need as much water? Or is it a "that plant is poisonous to other plants" deal? Cuse the ivy seems to be doing fine. I am trying to go by my mom's old watering trick, finger in the dirt. If the dirt is moist, don't water.

5. water mostly...
cacti also do better in sandy/better draining soil... the finger trick is great for normal plants, but could kill a cactus..

6. Ahh, I see
Thank you for that. I will re-pot the cactus all by itself then. Bummer. It looked so cute with the other plants.

7. You can plant succulents with your cactus
There are some very nice succulents available that have the same requirements as cactus. Some are "trailing" so they will hang over the edge of a pot. I always find a pretty good selection at Lowes Garden Center, and the prices are very reasonable.

9. I would think so
They require the same type of soil and growing conditions.
