It's been very warm here and still is, even this late in October

I was thinking about doing it soon, but I don't want to them to start coming up too soon!

1. What warm weather? Where are you?
I'm here in northern California and it is cold at night, so help me God...

2. Pittsburgh!
It isn't cold, not a damn bit! It's very strange.

It's 82 today, 20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year, if not more.

3. We has such a mild Winter last year, in NC, bulbs came up early anyway.
I'm planting some now, and putting extra mulch on them.

4. As long as they are planted before the ground freezes
They should be fine, assuming the squirrels don't dig them up for a tasty mid-winter snack.

5. Chicken wire!
I started putting chicken wire over my mom's bulbs years ago. Not because of squirrels but because we have so many plants she kept digging up bulbs every time she planted. This way she knows there are bulbs where she's digging and either has to move them or dug somewhere else.
