Anybody garden in an office?
I'm considering converting a corner of my desk to a garden. Anyone do this inside in a windowless room?

I was eyeballing something like this:

Although that may be too big. Any suggestions? I'm thinking just a few herbs to spruce up my lunches. Cilantro, definitely cilantro. My co-workers already think I'm odd enough, why not pile on? :-)

1. I grow orchids at the office
I use a Tek-Light T5 flourescent lighting - It hangs from the ceiling, is quite expensive and not appropriate for desk top. I became an orchid addict and aquired so many plants that I had to move some to the office. I have windows on the north side but there is an overhang outside and absolutely no sun light ever reaches my office. With so many orchids I need a lot of light and the Tek-Light was the most attractive.

Your lighting choice looks great. I may get one for my house. Good luck and have a great time gardening at the office.

2. You can get light bulbs that fit into any socket..
Just look for full spectrum or bulbs specifically for plants. Hang a fixture or get one that clamps to a shelf, raising the light as your plants grow and give your plants 8 to 10 hours of light. When my mom moved out of an office in Chicago it took me 2 car loads to move her plants!

3. that's the only way I could get by in an office
You will feel so much better around growing things. Any amount you spend is justifiable.
