I was browsing the Vesey's seed catalog and stumbled upon something called "ground cherries." Supposedly they taste a little bit like pineapple but are also like a tomato and can be used in pies. I googled and something came up that made them sound invasive. Has anyone here ever tried growing them? I'm always up for new stuff, but I don't want to introduce something I'll never be able to get rid of.

What I read says they grow well in containers. That would be a way to try them without letting them get invasive. I have to grow everything in containers because there's no open dirt where I live, so I'm gonna try some, too! :hi:

2. That's a good idea. I love trying new things, |
|
although last year I didn't have very good luck. The broccolirabe (or whatever it's called) got tall and stringy with few shoots and the fennel didn't do what I expected it to, although we got a little and it was pretty tasty. I'm going to have to try the ground cherries.

3. Is that the same thing as Jerusalem artichoke? My sister |
|
in law used to grow them and made wonderful relish with them.

4. I don't think so, but I might be wrong. Doesn't a Jerusalem artichoke |
|
have a big yellow flower? I could be thinking of something totally different, but I think ground cherries are more like a tomato.
