Ground Cherries
I was browsing the Vesey's seed catalog and stumbled upon something called "ground cherries." Supposedly they taste a little bit like pineapple but are also like a tomato and can be used in pies. I googled and something came up that made them sound invasive. Has anyone here ever tried growing them? I'm always up for new stuff, but I don't want to introduce something I'll never be able to get rid of.

1. Cool!
What I read says they grow well in containers. That would be a way to try them without letting them get invasive.
I have to grow everything in containers because there's no open dirt where I live, so I'm gonna try some, too! :hi:

2. That's a good idea. I love trying new things,
although last year I didn't have very good luck. The broccolirabe (or whatever it's called) got tall and stringy with few shoots and the fennel didn't do what I expected it to, although we got a little and it was pretty tasty. I'm going to have to try the ground cherries.

3. Is that the same thing as Jerusalem artichoke? My sister
in law used to grow them and made wonderful relish with them.

4. I don't think so, but I might be wrong. Doesn't a Jerusalem artichoke
have a big yellow flower? I could be thinking of something totally different, but I think ground cherries are more like a tomato.
