Have I lost my mind?
I have wanted to build a dry creek behind my house for some time because the water flows off the hills behind us (we live in a valley)and naturally flows through my gardens and greenhouse. I also do not want Mr. sazemisery mowing anywhere near my greenhouse (I have already patched several holes from last years mowing). To accomplish both goals, I covered much of the ground with landscape fabric and am in the process of planning out the creek. So instead of weeding, I have begun this huge, backbreaking job. Mr. sazemisery says I can't start or end a summer with out a new project. Here's some pics.
From the driveway looking into the back "yard":

From the greehouse looking toward the driveway:

The creek bed will bend around the greenhouse and end in the stand of trees behind the greenhouse following the natural flow of water. Now to drive the gravel roads in search of large accent rocks.
I also plan to hide the generator and the propane tank with bamboo fencing. The "green areas" will be planted with drought tolerant plants accustomed to the clay soil that abounds in my area.

2. I can't plant much so I had to do something.
Oh, sure, there's lots of weeding and leaves still to be mulched, etc., etc. but the spring rains erode so much of the clay that it has to be done. The area covered by the fabric is all dandelions and other wild flowers and weeds that die out in the hot summer leaving the crabgrass and powdered clay.

And I must give my scarecrow a makeover. Look at her:

She's in as bad a shape as I am.}(

3. she's beautiful! just needs a little color in her face LOL
and I don't think you're nutz creating a water drainage track. the old owners here graded the property so the rain rushing off the hill next door runs right down the driveway and out to the ditch by the road. much better than flooding the house foundation eh?

4. Are you going to
continue that behind the greenhouse? I still see mowable grass back there! LOL

Yep, she definitely is in need of a makeover. That hot Oklahoma sun is tough on a girl's complexion. She's also having some, um...gravity issues.

Brace yourself for another fun night of weather, I guess. Oy!

5. I ran out of landscape fabric and..
haven't had time to buy more yet. After Mr sazemisery ran over the electric cord that runs to my greenhouse (thankfully I had unplugged it) he got a few choice words from me that ended in the words "THERE WILL BE NO MORE MOWING IN THE BACK, PERIOD!", he drove away on the lawn tractor and I didn't see him again for 2 hours. x( I apologized later.:)

Scarecrow is not having gravity issues! She's just a little wobbly legged from all the Vodka & Red Bull!

11. Yes h-wife,
but but but!

My SO suggested instead of bathing suit I wear shorts and T-, but I demurred with 'I don't think others would like it!' Going to Fla folks senior citizens residence, and haven't used their pool. I am chicken!

12. I haven't been in
a swimsuit in years. The last time was over five years ago when we were going to the Y and lane walking the pool for exercise.

Don't worry about the old folks. Half of them are blind and the other half can't see. ;)
