The garden is really looking good, its 70 degrees already this morning. They are calling for snow tomorrow. Shit!

It won't hurt anything of course, its just the idea of it.

1. We're being told the same thing.
Freeze warning tonight. I'm going to cover the s.f. planters with sheets and my blueberry bushes as well, just in case.

2. I've got two old 50-gallon aquariums that I'm gonna try out as mini-greenhouses.
Other than that I may cover the broccoli with straw. I don't know if cold hurts radishes or not but we put aside a little plot on which to constantly replant them anyway so if we lose the couple of rows that are up now it won't hurt much.

3. Last night wasn't bad--nothing got hurt. Now tonight's supposed to bad.
I sure wish Nature would make up its mind. I'm heading to the store after a couple of things to get straw and stakes for the blueberry bushes. Low in the low-to-mid 20s tonight. Gah!

4. Revised forcast here too
It spit a little bit of snow this morning, mixed with rain. There was some sleet this afternoon too. The lowest I saw all day was 35 though. They are calling for a frost tomorrow morning with temps in the upper 20's. Can't wait.

5. Something I have just worked up this year -
If you buy a cheap door-with-frame, lay it down in the garden so you can open and close it. Dig out the soil inside a bit so there is a good space between dirt and frame for plants to come up.

I have one set up (though built from leftovers after a remodel) where i have seeded lettuce, snap peas, leeks and tomatoes. I close the door at night to keep out the worst cold and open it in the morning to let the sun in. My tomatoes are doing well even with 20 degree lows at night and everything else is flourishing, and it is easier than any other method I have come up with.

6. We do the same thing with an old sliding glass door
My wife's hot bed is just stancked up blocks with a left over (remodeling job) sliding glass door's glass as its top. They are heavy as hell to slide back to open but they work very well.
