Garden pics from the 08 bearfan garden

I have tomatoes and peppers this year again.



I ended up with 4 Early Girls(my favorites) and 6 Porter's pride. Has anybody had much luck with Porter's pride?



I picked all of the yellow flowers off until they were almost 3 feet tall. Now I am starting to get a good amount of tomatoes coming in. The plants are loaded with yellow flowers.



For the peppers I have 2 New Mexico Big Jims, 1 Habanero, 1 Cubanelle, and 1 Fiesta.

I will need my sun shade above the garden within a week or two. It shades the plants and keeps it about 10 to 15 degrees cooler. We are in the high 90's almost every day now. I have to water every day.

I will have to bring out the shade cloth if we have a long hot summer. The last 2 summers have been somewhat mild and it wasn't needed. I am growing Pantano Romanesco, Costoluto Genovese, Amish Paste and Sungold tomatoes. I have never grown the Italian tomatoes before but the Amish Paste are great for freezing and sauces and the sungold are bite size candy for all summer enjoyment.


A drip system would work well for you. I installed on in my vegetable garden last year and saved money and time. Here's a link to the company where I bought my system:
