How do I know when my summer squash is ready?
Kind of a silly question because I've all ready been eating them, however, when I buy them in the store the tips are all ready green, but when they are the right size to pick, the tips are white. Should I wait till the tips are green? I'm not sure that's possible because they are so good now.

1. I pick mine from the time they're tiny until they're baseball bats.
The smaller ones, of course, taste better. The gargantuan ones get grated for muffins, zucchini pancakes, etc.

2. They taste better when young and under a foot long
I bought a variety of yellow squash called Zephyr whose ends turn green. Heretofore, I have only had yellow squash that were all yellow. Ergo, the ends are not an indication. My Zephyrs are already green on the ends.

And there were squash beetles and they had laid eggs this morning! Beware the squash beetles. I crunched them and then ripped their egg clusters off of the leaves.
