These are all separate plants BTW.

1. Is the sixth pic a costoluto genovese?
of maybe a Pantano Romanesco? I am growing both of these varieties. Plus amish paste and sungold cherry and tomatillos.

Yours look great!:hi:

Heirloom variety beefsteak. I also have Romas and Giant Beefsteak, and one Big Rainbow plant that I just put in a couple weeks ago. About 40 plants in all.

4. I was ready to flame you for showing pictures of bushel
baskets full of ripe, red, just picked tomatoes, but since yours are about where mine are, I'll forgive you. Yours look very nice and healthy, and I hope you have a bumper crop. Do you can your tomatoes? Last year, I ran out of jars and, rather than buying more, I just peeled them and put in freezer bags. It was nice to have them when I wanted to make spaghetti or enchilada sauce. Thanks for posting your pictures.

7. I plan on doing a lot of canning
Maybe sell some at the farmer's market too, and/or donate them to food bank.

6. If you plan on canning or freezing sauce, I highly recommend this device:

In one pass the seeds and skins are separated from the pulp. The base attaches to the counter top by suction.

It's pricey now at W-S; you may be able to find it or something like it for less elsewhere.

Nice maters!

9. I just bought one at our hardware store!
It says in the book that I can get a berry screen, too, which I'm really tempted by. Red raspberry jam with fewer seeds would be awfully nice.

12. Looking very good.
Very very good. And I'm sure the question has been asked, but can you have enough tomatoes? I've got 15 plants and 8 of those now have greenies on them and one of them, a cherry variety has had red ones for a couple of weeks. I think they are the best cherry tomatoes in the world, but then, I may be a bit partial.

13. I can't tell you how much I'm craving fried green tomatoes.
I can't seem to raise them, even though we have ideal conditions in So. Louisiana. Mine always get root rot, even they don't touch the ground. Maybe it's too much rain. Is that possible?

14. What's really weird is how well mine have done
Edited on Fri Jul-04-08 07:52 AM by EstimatedProphet
Because it has rained here so much, it's ridiculous. The town flooded a month ago - we were lucky and didn't flood - and the rain keeps coming. Yet my plants are all healthy.
