It's tomato and pepper time in Central Tx

The tomatoes are just now starting to come in. Remember I pich off all the flowers until the plants are about 3 feet tall.
The ones on the right are Early Girls and the smaller ones are Porter's Pride. They only get a little bit smaller than a golf ball but you get shitloads of them.



My 4 early Girls haven't burned up yet.



The Porter's Pride tomato plants are over 6 feet tall.

These are Cubanelle, New Mexico Big Jim, Fiesta, and Habanero.

I canned my first 3 quarts of tomatoes this morning. I used franmarz's old canner from the 1950's. It still kicks ass except you have to sit right there and watch the pressure gauge to make sure it doesn't get too high. I do the tomatoes at 10 pound pressure for ten minutes.

Looks fantastic. I'm so jealous. I have to wait for next year for most of mine now but I did get the parts I ordered for my pressure canner so I'm ready. :9

I've got about a dozen or so cherry tomatoes every morning now, but I'm still waiting on my big tomato plants. Lots of big, fat green tomatoes, none going red yet.
