Who knew? The government is covering up Big Feet via James Randi and his insidious front group.
Is JREF a FRONT FOR THE NSA?
This is an easy question to answer. Just follow the Bigfoot threads and you will see Kitakaze, LT8K6, Locknar, and others getting away time after time with flagrant NAME CALLING, POSTING PERSONAL INFORMATION IN CONJUCTION WITH NAME CALLING and you will see mods like DARAT, and Cuddles ACTUALLY ALLOWING THESE FLAGRANT RULE VIOLATIONS. This is why JREF is corrupt. This is why JREF is an extension of America's NSA, which has a vested interest in destroying Bigfoot reseachers. And this is why the 5 to 10 thousand Bigfoot researchers do not post on JREF, because they have been tipped off by friendly NSA people that JREF is filled to the brim with NSA employees and JREF is controlled by the NSA.

LET THE USER BEWARE!

Wow. This person makes Judy Wood seem sane in comparison.

1. Those NSA people are brilliant!

4. Why would the NSA have a problem with Bigfoot "researchers"?
What's the intersection of national security and cryptozoology? Is Bigfoot working for the intelligence community? Are paranoids drawn to the woosphere, or do people pick up paranoia after immersing themselves in this stuff?

5. I think everybody is naturally paranoid to a degree
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 12:58 PM by salvorhardin
If you read Richard Hofstadter's The Paranoid Style In American Politics (and other works on this topic) you'll see that paranoia and conspiracy theories have played a large role in politics historically. It's not just a tiny fraction of the people, rather it's pervasive. However I think once someone enters the woosphere (nice word - I like it) natural paranoid tendencies tend to get exaggerated. People become more paranoid, believe in more woo, become more paranoid, pick up more woo beliefs, etc. It's a self-perpetuating cycle.

9. Another example: I came across, by chance, the website of an ex-DUer
who was banned after accusing everyone here of being shills or idiots on the subject of chemtrails. They're now running a rather lonely-looking 'discussion forum' (apart from them, it looks like 2 people have posted in the past month - a single post from a friend of theirs, and a few from a new poster who was driven off after 'shill' accusations).

They complained that they couldn't see the chemtrails properly that day, because they were too close to the sun, and that's how the government gets away with it - the chemtrails are frequently sprayed close to the sun, so no-one can look.

They really do think the world revolves around themselves.

10. BWAHAHA!
Those chemtrails people are the biggest loons. Weren't you tempted at all to post snark? Might be deleted but it would be funny as hell. I would love to ask them how the CIA control of the sunspots is going....

11. Not tempted - I'm afraid of ditheringtons
DITHERINGTON (n)
Sudden access to panic experienced by one who realises that he is being drawn inexorably into a clabby (q.v.) conversation, i.e. one he has no hope of enjoying, benefiting from or understanding.

CLABBY (adj.)
A 'clabby' conversation is one stuck up by a commissionaire or cleaning lady in order to avoid any further actual work. The opening gambit is usually designed to provoke the maximum confusion, and therefore the longest possible clabby conversation. It is vitally important to learn the correct, or 'clixby' (q.v.), responses to a clabby gambit, and not to get trapped by a 'ditherington' (q.v.). For instance, if confronted with a clabby gambit such as 'Oh, Mr Smith, I didn't know you'd had your leg off', the ditherington response is 'I haven't....' whereas the clixby is 'good.'

CLIXBY (adj.)
Politely rude. Bliskly vague. Firmly uninformative

He used to be SocraticTruths or something like that on DU, and he's back under a new username, but keeps a lower profile.

He fascinated me with the claim that chemtrails are normally sprayed "in the part of the sky where the sun is", and genuinely could not seem to understand that "the part of the sky where the sun is" depends on where you are.

This is pure gold:

8. You know what "researcher" means in the woo world
It often means "someone who reads a lot of web pages without the protection of a bullshit filter". How many of those 10k "researchers" never leave the basement?

14. James Randi is "destroying Bigfoot researchers???"
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 01:37 PM by onager
Oh, that is hilarious. I've seen some of their research. Randi couldn't possibly damage these fools any more than their own constantly changing stories and hilariously inept video "evidence."

Randi's just following that good advice often attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte:

"When your enemy is blundering, it is impolite to disturb him."
