Urology department thieves
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 02:06 PM by dropkickpa
Okay, I am getting seriously pissed off, pardon the pun. Two of the labs in urology are in some sort of pissing contest (hahaha) where they are stealing stuff from each other and putting it back later, etc etc.

It all boils down to one tech being Baron Von DickHorn to the techs from the other lab over something that would have been simple to resolve. They, being the grown-up post-docs that they are, responded in kind. So now there's power adapters for gram scales that keep going missing (and reappearing), and they keep coming to me. I told them "You are the only ones with access to that storage cabinet, the items don't go missing forever, they come back, so it's an issue you need to deal with, I am not getting involved. If you want to go to your department head, or want me to do that for you, that can be done"

Of course, neither group wants that, because they'll have new assholes when he gets done with them for wasting his time. Other than this childish crap, both groups are fantastic. But why do they have to bring this shit into my facility? I am seriously debating having both groups them come in and sit in my office while I lecture them.

2. I could care less if they kept it in their labs
But the labs are separate from the animal facility, so they have storage areas here near their animals. I keep telling the powers that be that we would have NO disease outbreaks or health issues if I could just keep the investigators out of my facility, but nooooo, that's no good they keep saying. I'm trying though!

If we WERE GLP, as big of a pain as that would be, it *would* cut out this type of stuff. Of course, 90% of the nincompoops who work in labs here would be unemployable in that setting. I wish there were a common sense requirement!

3. Thunderdome!
Ask each lab to send a representative, strip them down and give them each a chainsaw. (I suppose you could give one a crossbow, but I personally feel you should keep the playing field level.) If you have pigs in the animal lab, even better.

When they look at you like you are crazy, say: "The weak deserve their fate."

And walk away.

10. Just tell them to piss off...
I'd have thought that the LAST place one would be tempted to steal from is a urology lab!
