Unfortunate news regarding "Expelled".

Ben Stein's religious propaganda film earned $1.2 million dollars on Friday - no great shakes for a "normal" film, but very good for a documentary. It will probably make about $4-5 million by the end of the weekend, enough to place it in the top ten for the week (and in doing so make a lot of news reports). It's going to be interesting to see what kind of legs this has, but it will almost definitely be one of the top ten documentaries of all time, and may even approach An Inconvenient Truth and Sicko numbers. It also will have the 2nd best opening weekend ever for a documentary.

I still think that it's unlikely that anyone but IDers are going to see it, but still, it's awfully depressing.
