News conference to discuss claims of "Bigfoot" find
http://cbs5.com/localwire/22.0.html?type=bcn&item=BIGFOOT-NEWS-CONFERENCE-bagm-

PALO ALTO (BCN)

Three "Bigfoot'' seekers, including a Redwood City man who released a documentary titled "Bigfoot Lives,'' claim they may have the body of one and plan to release a photo and what they claim is DNA evidence at a news conference in Palo Alto on Friday.

Why am I strangely expecting to be disappointed? My bet is that they dug up Andre the Giant and glued some extra hair on him...

1. Yeah, I'm definitely thinking Piltdown man here.
I wonder to whom they are sending/sent the DNA evidence?

3. Don't know, but
if they didn't have a paid-off DNA analyst set up to issue a bogus report, it wouldn't surprise me if they just ground up a little human and ape tissue together and shipped that off somewhere, hoping it would fool people. It won't, and you can bet the farm that no one independent will ever see the skeletal remains (if they even exist), since any second year anthropology student would be able to tell that they're phony.

15. They sent a tissue sample to Craig Nelson, who has looked at stuff like this before
Of course, because it's Tom Biscardi and these two characters from Georgia, there was no chain of custody with the sample, so god knows where it actually originated from.

I originally linked to the thumbnail in photobucket. Then I figured out my problem.

Apparently cryptomundo has it too.

10. the server for cryptomundo is overwhelmed
However, check out Blogsquatcher. He has a great summary of the ridiculousness surrounding this apparent hoax.

http://blogsquatcher.blogspot.com

Check out especially the fact that there's a Bigfoot costume commercially available that is very similar in appearance to this thing in the freezer.

It just doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

25. I'm really insulted by this post.
I freely admit that I'm witty, that I'm a lover, and that I may just be the biggest douchebag on DU.

But I have never, ever believed in bigfoot, nor did I post that comment.

Besides, I killed the only existing big foot YEARS ago, when he banged up my sister and then wouldn't give her a ring.

17. There'll probably be some excuse
They'll probably announce that the press conference can't go ahead. Possible reasons:

1. The body is being examined by scientists at an undisclosed location.
2. It's been bought by a rich, anonymous Bigfoot enthusiast.
3. They've been threatened by shadowy individuals, possibly from the government or Big Zoology, and have to back down for safety's sake.
4. It's been abducted by aliens.
5. The dog ate it.

18. I wouldn't be surprised if the government and Big Zoo were in cahoots.
I'm not sure which government it would be, but it is bound to be a republican government because of the genetic similarity between Bigfoot and the republican leadership.

21. On Yahoo's front page right now: Possumfoot!
One of the two samples of DNA said to prove the existence of the Bigfoot came from a human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum, according to Curt Nelson, a scientist at the University of Minnesota who performed the DNA analysis...

Also present were Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, the two who say they discovered the Bigfoot corpse while hiking in the woods of northern Georgia. They also are co-owners of a company that offers Bigfoot merchandise.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080815/us_nm/bigfoot_dc

These clowns didn't even try very hard. I grew up right across the state line from them, in northern South Carolina. Possums are almost as common as house cats there. To gather a possum DNA sample, all you'd have to do is scrape the tires of your car.

23. Whats hilarious is that
these guys are claiming the "DNA may not have been processed right". Uh yeah sure...Considering if it wasn't processed right it would have had no conclusive results..How dumb are these guys to think this scam was gonna pass DNA muster?

Oh yeah and even if it was contaminted, something odd still would have shown up.

24. I think they know
that the whole thing will collapse soon, and they're just enjoying leading the media around by the nose for a few days. It's not like any of them have a reputation to uphold, other than as scam artists. If the reporters took the stance that they weren't going to give this any more attention until the body was produced, these guys would disappear.

33. And...shockingly...
Atlanta (AP) - Turns out Bigfoot was just a rubber suit. Two researchers on a quest to prove the existence of Bigfoot say that the carcass encased in a block of ice - handed over to them for an undisclosed sum by two men who claimed to have found it - was slowly thawed out, and discovered to be a rubber gorilla outfit.

http://apnews.excite.com/article/20080820/D92LQLU80.html

The one bright spot in the whole mess is that Mark Whitton, one of the clowns who perpetrated this, is going to be fired from his job as a police officer as a result. Now if only reporters would stop drooling over this sort of thing until they have real evidence and independent, competent verification (yeah, right...I know).

34. That's amazing....

Has anybody attempted to explain why Bigfoot was apparently wearing a rubber gorilla suit?

Maybe that's why Bigfoot has been so hard to track down.

The real news here is that Bigfoot creatures are actively trying to disguise themselves this way.
