4. What does it take to become a Reiki master, anyway?
I've heard reports that you need to sign your name on the check and spend two weeks with an already masterful master, or something. All I know for sure is that my Aunt is a Reiki master, and it sure as shit didn't take years of study in some far-off land.

I also have a friend who attended one class (ONE CLASS!) on some sort of Rune-casting energy woo, or the like, and at its completion he was awarded the rank of master. He later joked that he'd only stopped in to get his parking ticket validated, and he walked out a master.

8. He supports the other side
Personally, I think the dems should throw these Reiki witches under the bus. Supporting their magic could alienate the evangelical vote, and we don't want that. But it has to be done carefully, because you really don't want to anger someone who can beam energy at you from a distance.

Reiki for Obama: how to feel like you're helping, without actually doing anything.

13. Who knew they had made a sequel?
though I think "Son of Reiki" or "Reiki v. the Smog Monster" would have been snappier than just "Reiki 2".

14. It's like the Indigo Children.
Once everyone in Wooville claimed they had a gifted Indigo child they lost their value, so some of them decided to invent a new category for their "special" offspring.

Now they all claim to have given birth to Crystal Children.

Don't Google it, you'll be sorry, trust me. :yoiks:

17. That's my take on it too.
I think I'll post a thread about them here, if you're not in a foul mood from all the shit-stirring and fear mongering in GD, it's quite amusing.

Really really really pathetic, but funny all the same time.

Usually from my Mom, after I demonstrated my Indigo Child qualities with a purple Crayola and the living-room wall.

22. Returning the favor
I'm not sure about the rules on "calling out" anymore, so I'll try not to do that. I'm sure none of you would barge into a group uninvited and start snarking, anyway. Though I note that some woos certainly don't mind coming in here and ranting at us about our sPeeeruchul failings.

I'm only posting this for entertainment and educational purposes. ESPECIALLY entertainment. Bwah!

All I'll say is: if you go to that group where the Very Special People gather to contemplate their stars and navels, you'll be richly rewarded with a thread about "recent past lives."

Trust me, you don't want to be drinking anything when you check out this one.

23. I can't read that sort of thread without vicarious embarrassment
It's good to have imagination, but most of us grow out of playing "let's pretend". When I read of someone who fantasises about a past life, it's like discovering that they have, say, a rubber fetish: it's ok between consenting adults, but on the whole it's probably best indulged in private.

27. I love when they say stuff like
"I don't like sitting in a darkened car, because I died in a coal mine accident."

Really? I suppose that I don't like having extra cash on hand because I was killed during an armored car robbery?

Nutty nutty nutty.
