Vampires!
My first thought on reading this wasn't "vampires are real!" is was "oh my......"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/11/23/AR2008112302158.html

The vampire is Linda Rabinowitz, also known as Selket. She's in her thirties, lives in central Virginia and radiates warm approachability. If you needed a quarter to get on the bus, she is the stranger you would ask.

If you maintained eye contact for too long, though, she might be tempted to quietly sip away at your energy, or prana, leaving you a little fatigued, because that is what empathic and psychic vampires feed on, and that is what Rabinowitz says she is. But she would never actually do that, because "good" vampires -- both psychic and blood-consuming sanguinarians -- operate under the Black Veil, a strict code of ethics that stipulates feeding only off willing donors.

2. The things people come up with to feel special
Can't they just be goths, like any, er, normal people? I'm glad that "Selket" stays away from "head cases": wouldn't want her catching any crazy.

3. Normal people are boring.
When there's nothing else special about your life, you have to imagine something. Best if it's something that no one can take away from you. Actually I think that explains a lot, from these "vampires" to people who frequent the Astrology corner. "I'm special, I can use magic in the universe to create my own reality!"

4. If they can create their own reality they'll never be ill!
Is that 'code of ethics' the same reason why psychics never win the lottery? :eyes:

Most of us will never be important in the world as a whole- just to family and friends. Why can't people just accept that?

5. "Why can't people just accept that?"
Damn fine question. You see that inability to accept it in just about every kind of woo. Like "past lives." Everyone who believes in that was a queen or pharaoh or something. "Oh, I may be a clerk at Wal-Mart today, but I ruled Egypt 10,000 years ago! I'M SPECIAL GODDAMMIT!"

Dear Andrew,

I am enjoying My Past Life very much, Andrew. Thank you for giving me the chance to have this. So far, I have been able to tap into three past lives by using your program.

THREE past lives!!! OMNEG!!! (Oh my non-existent god).

Do multiple past lives work like prison sentences, i.e., either consecutive or concurrent?

Well, silly me. I should have known the answer--"all of the above." Learned that from another quick Google.

Apparently you can even have multiple past lives running at the same time, but that seems to involve something quantum.

I was waiting for it! LMAO

What a freaking joke. Don't know how many times we've said this, but damn I wish I had no morals so I could start selling garbage like that to take people's money. Doesn't get any easier than that.
