glass houses and Obama's birth certificate
Edited on Sat Dec-06-08 01:09 PM by WoodrowFan
You know, there's a lot of crowing in GD and GD-P about the stupidity of the RWs and assorted PUMAs who are going on about Obama's birth place, but I've yet to see a stupid CT about Bush that didn't have a bunch of true believers on the DU. MIHOP, the anthrax attacks, fears that the Repubs would steal the 2008 election, assassinating Wellstone, vacines, etc, etc, they are all "accepted wisdom" among a lot of DU members. Yeah the Freepers are idiots about Obama but we have quite a few here as well when it comes to the RW. Heck, I don't even dare post this in GD unless I want to start a flame war. :hide:

On edit, I forgot the entire "that isn't really Palin's kid" nonsense as well...

1. No surprise
Conspiroids tend to think alike and aren't limited to one party. And the wingnuts on both end of the spectrum behave quite alike for example..Just look at the bullshit the RW was spreading about how the Clintons were responisble for many murders..It is very similar to the BFEE crap that is spread here. I get tired of the hypocrisy--that if a democrat does it or says it it MUST be okay no matter HOW stupid.

3. Actually sometimes people even post the RW stuff...
I've seen 'the Clintons were murderers' ones a few times, especially during the primaries.

Some of the conspiracy-types use far-right sources, such as WhatReallyNeverHappened and WakeUpFromYourSlumber.

I don't really think there's so many of them; it's just they tend to be rather intense!

I wouldn't call the 'Republicans might steal the election' one SO outrageous (if it had been extremely close, fraud could have been possible); but the 'They'll find a reason to declare martial law and suspend elections' ones were pretty ridiculous. After all, elections even took place as normal during the American Civil War.

2. I think the term is confirmation bias... I forgot.
anyway, that's the main reason I stay away from the main boards, don't want to have to sift through so much crap that some of it sticks.

4. Good advice.
The other day in GD (I think), somebody started a thread about criticism of Dipstick Chopra.

They were outraged that somebody had the unmitigated gall to criticize him. And on television!

When I saw it, the thread only had the original message posted. I had to severely restrain myself from responding. In the end I just decided I did not want to open up that can of worms (again) and get bashed by the reality-challenged.

Though I'm sure the can contained quantum worms, and they would have done all sorts of fascinating tricks...
