3. Sticking a day old baby's heel to get blood for a PKU test

was my low point in L&D. I hated doing it, even though I knew pain transmission wasn't that efficient in newborns. The babies didn't like it and I didn't, either.

Babies are already routinely tested for PKU. Adding a couple of other diseases to it is not going to matter, but I doubt parents realize their kid already gets stuck on its way out of the nursery and into the car.
