More feeling like you're doing something when you're actually doing nothing.

"GLOBAL CONSCIOUS EVOLUTION quiet SUNSET MEDITATION WHEREVER YOU ARE ON Earth, WHEREVER YOU HAPPEN TO BE AT SUNSET/FULL MOON RISE IN YOUR REGION..: Giving the universe your undivided attention, thinking infinite thoughts, & picturing your highest vision of your own personal conscious evolution, focusing FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES on however you would like to see your personal evolution manifested in the world & in your life from this moment on...
As the Sunset moves around the world & folks practice & contributing their personal meditation at their location we will all collectively be generating a global wave/pulse of conscious evolution that will go around the world in 24 hours...consciously accelerating the evolution of consciousness on Earth species wide..."

"THE GOAL: to accelerate the frequency of these conscious evolution events by breaching the tipping point of critical mass: 26,000 willing participants in the conscious evolution quiet meditation acceleration events. Reaching that number will automatically positively effect the entire human species & thus all life on Earth. BREACHING THE TIPPING POINT WILL CREATE A SPECIES WIDE EVOLUTIONARY STEP: THE ACCELERATION OF HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS."

since this nonsense is being spread on a social networking tool used by my generation, I feel like I should use vocabulary my generation uses to describe this. so, "epic fail."

2. When you're dealing with people such as these,
Fifteen minutes is an eternity.

5. ROFL!
 So it's like that Albert Einstein quote?

“Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity.”

3. So, how is this different from prayer?
Muslims all over the world pray at sunset (among other times), and one of the things they ask for is peace. So, every day, there's this huge wave of millions of prayers circling the globe, asking for peace in the Muslim world - which doesn't appear to be having the desired effect.

The slightly clever thing about this "conscious evolution" nonsense is that it combines selfishness ("however you would like to see your personal evolution manifested") with hopes for mankind ("the evolution of consciousness on Earth species wide"), so you can contemplate your own awesomeness while pretending that you're doing it for everyone else.

The link doesn't work for me, so: is there a scam involved? Are they selling t-shirts, CDs of meditation music, magic crystals etc?

4. You have to be a Facebook member in order to see the event
The creator of that group has a website at http://davidalexanderenglish.com so yeah, tangentially, he's selling quite a bite. Don't forget to check out his YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/daenglish

6. They can meditate upon this...

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss, and when.

Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
and despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Remember The Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate.
Know yourself. If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you -
That lemon on your left, for instance.

Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.

Fall not in love therefore. It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth: birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan.
And let not the sands of time get in your lunch.

Hire people with hooks.
For a good time, call 606-4311. Ask for Ken.
Take heart in the bedeepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever misfortune may be your lot,
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Therefore, make peace with your god,
Whatever you perceive him to be - hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal,
The world continues to deteriorate.
Give up!

9. 1) I actually mistook you for a woo based on your name quite a few times.
2) Ok, so it still keeps popping into my head. What can I say? There is another poster by the name cryingshame (or used to be), but I always misremember their name as "conscious evolution", so keep confusing you two.

3) DU name change amnesty be your friend!

10. Part woo actually
Though the name choice occured before the trip to wooville.
i took my name from a song by the band Donna the Buffalo. The word play in the title appealed to me.

Conscious=A state of mind
Evolution= adapt or die
In other words-change your mind or die.

Believe it or not, that attitude was one I had to take or I would have died.

I toyed with the idea of a name change but decided to stick with what I got.

12. Ah, I'm reasonably reserved in who I describe as a woo.
If you aren't ranting against the science dogma that is crowding our newton minds, I list you as "alternative" or "new age" rather than woo-woo.

11. heh.
I know exactly who you are talking about and believe me I DON'T mix the two of them up...CE is a hardcore skeptic compared to the other guy..whom complained recently about "the unquestioning popularity of the scientific dogma on this board". pretty funny coming from a poster who does not even know the difference between a drug, chemical and vaccine!:)
No offense CE..you are about 100x smarter then the other guy....

13. That is because your newton mind is unable to accept the einstein minded
ideals that he quantum holds. I know this because Jesus told me so, when I ran into him doing laps at the pool the other day.
