11. Hi, I was and am again a nurse and a massage therapist.

I get looked at oddly from people in both those professions since I am, well, uppity. I see good points from several sides, feel there is no one "right" answer for all, but am also a skeptic about claims from most everywhere. It needs to be provable to me. And even then of course it isn't always right. Moderation in everything, including moderation perhaps.

As a massage therapist I get a pass since I obviously can't be supporting Big Pharma as a woo woo.
As a nurse I totally distrust everything unless Big Pharma gives me money to support it.

Ah well. I'd rather have a cup with a rx promoter logo on it, but will take the money if need be.

If you believe that advances in science and medicine are actually directed at helping people, rather than simply making money for The Evil Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry;
If you believe that proof and scientific method are required to justify the use of treatments or preventative measures;
If you actually UNDERSTAND scientific method, clinical trial results, and simple statistical methodology....
then you may be in the right place.

18. When I posted, I thought I was in "Books: Fiction"

and I told you in the deleted post that I was mainly interested in mysteries, detectives, etc. When I realized I was in Skeptics, I figured you would wonder what the hell was wrong with one of us.. so I deleted the message.

But Welcome anyway. From me a welcome doesn't mean much because I'm a card-carrying woo and they hold no stock with woos in here and I'm not very welcome and am considered to be a disruption.

I happened to slip in now because I think I made enough people mad in Discussions: Presidential. Maybe I should lay low for a while.

Seriously...once i get some time off work (ha!) I'll send you a few good curry and masala recipes that use curry and hot peppers. So not only are they good for you in a gastronomical sense, they may be health-beneficial as well (and no, there are no grasshoppers in these recipes. Only spiders)

24. I get woo at times also, think there can be something to some of it.

My problem is it is too easy to claim things that you aren't, have had issues with unscrupulous woowoos, if that makes sense.

You should have left that answer, would have made sense to me in some odd way. Do you know who the author is that writes mysteries, about a Catholic Sister (and author is also)? I read a couple of her books (somewhat fast reads) a couple yrs back but can't remember who she was except "Sister...".
