9. Thanks, me too.
My bf used to try to stop me from photographing storms but he gave up, it's like a moth to a flame.

2. My five-year-old has a love/hate relationship with tornadoes
Edited on Sun Mar-08-09 10:01 PM by Orrex
He's tremendously interested in them, but he's also terrified of them. Here in western PA he's never seen one, but he loves watching videos of them on YouTube.

If you can post any pics, they'll be much appreciated, I assure you!

10. I was the same way as a kid.
Of course we lived in Vermont and the closest thing we had were water spouts.

3. Having been in a class 5 as a 3 yr old, best of luck there.
I really hate winds. Tornadoes fascinate me but they scare the crap out of me also. Good luck to all in the area.

11. High wind makes me psycho, I pace the floor, can't sleep, etc.
Straight line winds can be just as destructive as tornadoes.

5. Have fun?
They are fascinating but I've cleaned up after one hopped over this area. It hardly touched down but the damage was intense. I wouldn't mind not seeing one up close for a while.

12. Yes, I did! This was a good storm to photograph.
Tornadoes usually touch down at night and are often obscured by heavy rain. Since this front blew in from the north-west, I didn't get pelted with hail and rain until I had most of my pictures.

7. No confirmed touchdowns here, but it was a hell of a show:

So violent, so beautiful.

Their awesomeness almost makes up for the tornado sirens that wake us up in the middle of the night.

And this is just the beginning of the season, it was 80° here Tuesday and tonight we've already accumulated 3" of snow.
